Our Name

What's in a name? Sometimes the Lord helps us decide...

Our grandson Jacob for whom Jacob Maltese is named.Baby puppies, real babies and the joy of life...People often ask how Jacob Maltese got our name. Its a story of Maltese puppies, a real baby and the joy of life...

Jacob is our first Grand-child. Our first puppies were due to be born the same day Jacob was due. Both pregnancies went fine and Angel presented us with two beautiful "baby boys." Mom took lots of pictures and was showing them to everyone.

The next day we got the call, our daughter-in-law was in labor, our real baby was finally going to be born. We gathered at the hospital to wait and Mom showed off pictures of the puppies. The wait became longer, problems developed, the baby was too big. Finally, baby Jacob was born by cesarean but he was bleeding into his scalp and very, very sick.

We all prayed and we asked everyone we knew to pray. For almost a week we really didn't know if Jacob would live. During this time our Maltese puppies were thriving under the constant care of their Mother. (We made sure someone was always at home with them just in case there were problems.)

Gradually, Jacob got better and after three weeks in NICU he got to come home. By then the puppies had their eyes open and were "cruising" around their box. Mom walked around with pictures of "all three babies" and it was clear that our kennel name was destined to be Jacob Maltese.
