Ch. Jacob's Promise of Fame, "Promise" represents the future of Jacob Maltese and our committment to breeding excellent examples of the breed. Shown above on Christmas Day 2005 (isn't taking dog pictures the way everyone spends their Christmas Day?), at just four months the "Promise" of a champion was clear. She has always had the sweetest face.
Promise took her first points in Brierfield showing her "Promise" in a big way by taking a 4 Point Major under Judge Charlotte McCowan at only seven months. Mom was somewhat surprized as she thought Starla had a better chance of winning since she was three weeks older than Promise. But Promise showed her confidence and wonderful structure as she looked up at the Judge with her lovely face and took the win.
In Novemeber 2006 Promise took a very nice win under Judge Sandra Goose Allen. The Judge commented several times that Promise was "just perfect".
In November she also took a nice win at the Priceville show under Judge Steve Hayden taking BW, BOS, BOW. As the picture shows I was very happy for the win. The Judge seems happy too but with closed eyes - show photos are so much fun - the important thing is that Promise looked wonderful in the ring and in the photo.
In March, 2007 I my husband, died unexpectedly. My faith and the prayers of family and friends lifted me up as I walked this dark vally. My "Dog Friends" were wonderful providing support in so many ways, flowers, cards, notes, shoulders to cry on, etc. Two of my friends blessed me in the most special way by taking Promise to the shows in Franklin, TN where I had entered her prior to Wilb getting sick. Fran Lovitt came and got her and took her to the show and Amy Pruette met her there and handled her for me. (To show you how God works even in the small things of our lives I almost always show in Bred-By Class as I want it to by known that these are dogs produced in my breeding program. For this particular show I had put Promise in Open Class as I was starting Annie and I wanted to be sure if Annie happeded to win it would be from Bred-By. Because Promise was in Open Class Amy could show her for me and I am eternally greatful that she was willing to do this.)
Promise won on Saturday taking WB, BOW, BOS for a major under Judge Carl Yochum. Fran and Amy were not sure how many points Promise needed to finish but knew it wasn't very many so they went ahead and put New Champion on her photo that day. But she still needed one point to finish and she took the win (another major) the next day under Judge
Dr. Gareth Morgan-Jones to really finish her Championship. Many thanks to these Judges and to my wonderful friends who created a bright spot in my world. Wilb would have been very proud as he loved all the dogs but Promise was one of his favorites.
